Hydraulic or mechanical? Mechanical cable steering, like the SeaStar Quick Connect complete set, is a simple and affordable choice for smaller outboards. Hydraulic steering gives lighter, smoother steering with less kickback through the wheel, making it the preferred choice for larger outboards and heavier boats. Our hydraulic kits include BayStar systems for outboards up to 150hp, Multiflex systems to 115hp and 350hp, and SeaStar systems for outboards up to 400hp.

Choosing a kit. Match the kit to your outboard's horsepower, and measure the hose run from your helm to the engine to get the right hose length. Some kits come with hoses included (6.1m or 7.5m), while others are supplied without hoses so you can fit the exact length you need. We recommend having hydraulic steering professionally installed and bled.
