Ygk Braid

Shop fishing braid online at Smart Marine, from Shimano, Daiwa, Sufix, PowerPro, Black Magic, Berkley, YGK, Varivas, Tasline and more. Braid is much thinner than mono for the same strength and has almost no stretch, so you feel every bite, cast further and get more line on your reel.

Choosing a braid. Four-strand braid is tough, abrasion-resistant and affordable. Eight-strand braid is rounder and smoother, so it casts further and runs quieter through the guides, and 12-strand braids are smoother still. Multicolour braid changes colour at set intervals, so you can see exactly how deep your jig or bait is. Go light for softbaiting and light jigging, and step up for kingfish, speed jigging and deep water.

For specialist fishing, choose hollow braid for game reels, which lets you splice in wind-on leaders and top shots, dedicated braid for electric reels, and fine braid for squid jigging. Bulk spools are available for filling larger reels.

Always finish your braid with a fluorocarbon or mono leader for abrasion resistance and stealth, and cut it cleanly with braid scissors from our fishing tools. Prefer mono? See our monofilament range, or browse the full Sufix line-up. Spool up a new spinning reel or softbait reel while you’re here.
