Shakespeare Baitcast Rods

Shop baitcast rods online at Smart Marine, from Shimano and Daiwa. Built to pair with baitcast and small overhead reels, these rods have the reel seat on top and a trigger grip for control, making them a great all-round choice for boat fishing, bait fishing and light jigging.

Most of our range is rated 4–8kg, the go-to line class for snapper, kahawai and gurnard, with options from affordable everyday rods through to premium lightweight models. For bigger fish, step up to a heavier 5–9kg or 6–10kg rod with more backbone, or choose a light lure rod for casting soft plastics and hard-body lures.

Match your rod with a baitcast reel, or save with a ready-to-go baitcast rod and reel set. For slow jigging and sliders, see our dedicated slow pitch jigging rods, or for heavier bait fishing, our overhead boat rods. Spool up with braid, and protect your rod in transit with a rod tube or bag.
