The new 8000 size opens up a whole world of new options to anglers such as saltwater casting and bait fishing for a variety of pelagic gamefish offshore.

- Propulsion Line Management System:The new Propulsion Line Management System provides the angler longer casts, with less effort, while drastically reducing the chance of backlash, wind knots or tangles.
- Varispeed Oscillation:Normal oscillation systems use a constant rotation of the oscillation gear that, when translated to the cam, provides an inconsistent spool speed. This results in line lay that stacks at either end of the spool. By using an oval oscillation gear, we are able to alter the speed of the oscillation cam to provide a consistent spool speed. This results in an even line lay that provides excellent castability and manageability.
- S Concept: S-Concept represents Shimano's initial philosophy on which many of our spinning reel have been designed. The three basic ideas that are inherent in the S-Concept are Smooth, Silent and Strong.
- Power Roller III: This is an oversized line roller that reduces twist from casting and retrieving and is enhanced with a tapered area on the support to help line get onto the roller quicker.
