Shimano Stella SW 14000XGD Spinning Reel & Ocea Plugger Full Throttle 8'8" PE8 Topwater Rod Combo with Ocea 8 Blue Casting Braid
A heavy topwater casting outfit built around Shimano’s flagship Stella SW. The new 2026 XGD model is paired with the Ocea Plugger Full Throttle, a long 8'8" rod made for distance and power, and Ocea 8 Blue braid for stickbaiting and popper fishing.
Key Features:
New 2026 Stella SW XGD: Shimano’s number one premium spin reel. The XG gearing is focused specifically on saltwater casting and topwater use, and a 6.2:1 ratio retrieves 134cm of line per turn of the handle.
Hagane Body, Hagane Gear & X Ship: A rigid metal body, strong forged gearing, and a supported pinion keep power transfer smooth and consistent when a big fish loads the reel.
Infinity Drive, Infinity Cross & Silent Drive: Improve winding torque and smoothness, and add gear strength and durability for repeated hard fights.
Heatsink Drag & XXTough Drag: Improved drag capability for dependable stopping power, with a larger diameter drag knob for refined control.
Infinity Loop & Anti-Twist Fin: Infinity Loop improves castability, and the Anti-Twist Fin helps prevent line trouble.
X Shield & X Protect: Waterproofing protects the reel’s internals from the saltwater environment, and this year’s model adds an upgraded waterproof seal on the handle knob.
Full Throttle Blank: The Ocea Plugger Full Throttle brings improved distance and power. The blank is designed to balance casting and fish fighting, bending like a bow along its full length to transmit energy smoothly, which reduces the load on the angler and supports stable full casts and powerful fights.
X-Guide Touch-Free Titanium Stripper Guide: Shimano’s unique guide dramatically improves casting performance, reduces blank slap during the cast, and gives stable, efficient line movement through the guide train. It also suppresses wind knots and reduces line damage.
Spiral X Core, Hi-Power X & Ci4+: Advanced blank construction with Ci4+ material that is lighter and stronger than conventional resin, plus a titanium-strengthened guide system.
Screw Lock Joint: Increases joint strength on the two-piece rod and makes it easy to detach.
Ocea 8 Blue Casting Braid: Eight strands of high-quality Dyneema fibres woven with Shimano’s Tuff Cross construction make a super silky PE line. This Blue version is the solid-colour line for casting situations.

Why It Works:
Heavy topwater fishing takes casting distance, a reel that retrieves fast, and gear that holds up when a big fish hits the lure. The XGD reel is geared for exactly this job: it retrieves 134cm per turn, so you can work a popper or stickbait at speed and pick up line quickly when a fish turns. The long, strong rod casts heavy lures a long way and has the power to stop big fish. The touch-free guide system keeps the line clean and well controlled through the cast. Ocea 8 Blue is a casting line, so it suits this setup. Together they make a premium outfit for serious topwater fishing.
