The RF40 Rudder Feedback Unit is a medium-duty rudder position sensor designed to provide accurate rudder angle information to compatible marine autopilot systems.
Connected mechanically to the vessel’s rudder system, the RF40 continuously measures the actual rudder position and sends this information to the autopilot computer, helping the system deliver precise rudder control for smooth and accurate steering.
The RF40 features a variable 0–5V output and comes with a generous 15m (49ft) cable and 3-pin plug-and-play connector for direct connection to compatible NAC-1 and NAC-2 autopilot computers. The connector can also be removed for use in other suitable applications.

It can be used with compatible Simrad, Lowrance and B&G autopilot systems using the appropriate autopilot computer and installation configuration.
The RF40’s 15m direct cable can be particularly useful where extending an NMEA 2000 network to the rudder area would be impractical. Unlike an NMEA 2000-connected rudder sensor such as an RF25, the RF40 connects directly to a compatible autopilot computer using its variable-voltage output.
